On June 28th, the beautiful St. John the Baptist Church in Cirencester played host to a truly special occasion – a wedding steeped in music and tradition. The renowned High Row Choir, comprised of talented singers from across the UK, graced the ceremony with a repertoire of classic English music, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for this joyous event.
The choir, under the expert direction of Matthew Lennnox, brought together Lay Clerks from prestigious institutions like Worcester Cathedral, Tewksbury Abbey, Ripon Cathedral, Salisbury Cathedral, and singers from several Oxford colleges. This unique blend of voices filled the historic church with rich harmonies, adding a touch of grandeur to the vows exchanged.
The carefully chosen program showcased the beauty of English choral music. The choir’s rendition of works by Thomas Tallis, a towering figure of the Tudor era, undoubtedly resonated with the church’s own rich history. Parry’s beloved “I Was Glad” offered a moment of uplifting joy, while the majestic “Zadok the Priest” – a coronation anthem – added a touch of solemnity to the occasion.
The High Row Choir’s performance transcended the act of singing – it became an integral part of the wedding narrative.Their dedication and artistry ensured that the ceremony was not just witnessed, but deeply felt by all those present. It’s a testament to the power of choral music to elevate emotions and create lasting memories on momentous occasions like this.
Congratulations to the happy couple, Lucinda and James for their special day, and a heartfelt thank you to the High Row Choir for sharing their talent and passion. Their performance undoubtedly made this a wedding to remember for years to come.
